Privacy by Design

Privacy isn’t a feature you add at the end. It’s a principle that shapes every decision from the start.

Our Approach

At NWV Labs, we start every project with a simple question: What data do we actually need?

The answer is usually: less than you think.

Principles We Follow

1. Collect Only What’s Essential

If we don’t need it, we don’t collect it. Period.

Most apps collect data “just in case” or because it might be useful someday. We take the opposite approach: prove the need first.

2. Process Locally When Possible

Your device is powerful. Modern iPhones can do incredible things without ever sending data to a server.

We leverage on-device processing for:

  • Machine learning inference
  • Data analysis
  • Content generation

3. Be Transparent

When we do need to collect or transmit data, we’re clear about:

  • What we’re collecting
  • Why we need it
  • How long we keep it
  • How to delete it

4. Minimize Retention

Data you don’t keep can’t be breached. We set aggressive retention policies and stick to them.

Why This Matters

Privacy isn’t just about compliance or avoiding lawsuits. It’s about trust.

When users trust that you’ll protect their data, they’re more willing to use your app in meaningful ways. Privacy and great user experience aren’t at odds—they reinforce each other.

The iOS Advantage

Building for iOS gives us powerful privacy tools:

  • App Transport Security for secure networking
  • Keychain for sensitive data storage
  • App Privacy Report for transparency
  • On-device ML through Core ML

We embrace these tools rather than working around them.

Privacy is a feature. It’s one of the most important features we build.
